HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting at a southwest Houston apartment complex.
Houston police say two people were shot, one fatally, at the Palms apartment complex located on Westheimer and Winrock.
Ebony Banks walked out of her apartment this morning and into a murder mystery.
"This girl with this dog was like, 'Could you drive me to the hospital? I've been shot,'" said Banks.
The woman, identified as 22-year-old Alisha Duncan, was limping from a painful leg wound. Banks took her inside her apartment and called 911.
"I saw blood there was blood all over her," said Banks. "Blood all over her hips, and I'm just like, oh my God, I just didn't want her to die in my house."
When police arrived, the wounded woman at first refused to talk, but relented at the hospital, telling them a man had also been shot and killed.
We followed police to his apartment to check it out.
Inside, police found a man's body. They aren't releasing his name, but the apartment is leased to a 34-year-old man who court records show has a history of drug arrests.
However, detectives don't believe the motive for the shootings was drugs.
"It's either going to be domestic or a robbery," said Sgt. Anthony Versluis with HPD Homicide.
Homicide detectives aren't providing any other details, saying the investigations is still open.
Meantime, Ebony Banks is hunting for a new apartment.
"I know I'm ready to move. I'm scared of my life, you know. Somebody just walks to your door and they've been shot. Who lives like that?" Banks said.
Duncan was hit in the leg and is expected to be OK.
