SEALY – Classes will go on as scheduled Tuesday at two Sealy ISD schools and the district's administrative offices.
About 900 students from Selman Intermediate and Sealy Junior High got to stay home on Monday after flooding the day before left as much as 10 inches of standing water in the school.
Teachers were allowed to return to school at noon on Monday to check out the possible flood damage classrooms.
"If there are any books and anything that they need to pick and throw away or anything like that, they're in the process of doing that because not all of the rooms were affected," said Sealy ISD superintendent Scott Kana.
Cleanup and restoration specialists spent the day working worked to dry out the waterlogged halls and classrooms. They pulled out the soaked carpet that had to be replaced. Officials said not all of the carpet will be in place by the time the bell rings Tuesday morning.
"Those classrooms will not be used," said Kana. "We've got enough classrooms to spread around and enough combined that it will be education as usual, just not in those rooms."
