HOUSTON – METRO has announced the return of a popular program called the Day Pass, and it offers unlimited rides for a flat fee.
The agency kicked off the program Monday morning. You can now travel by rail or bus as many times you want in a day for only $3.
"I travel all the time around Houston. So this is great," said Cedric Taylor.
All you have to do is pre-load the card and add the desired value. It's like the Q-card, but ideal for anyone who travels three or more times a day. It also offers a 50 percent discount to students, seniors, and the disabled.
"New METRO's been at work and they're listening to people because it's something they really wanted," said Margaret O'Brien-Molina with METRO.
The Day Pass was discontinued in 2008 when the Q-card was introduced and the fare system was restructured.
METRO says it believes having the option could offer significant savings, especially if you make several trips in a 24-hour period.
