Man dies in tragic accident on carnival cruise ship

GALVESTON – During a seven-day Caribbean cruise aboard the Carnival Magic, 39-year-old, Chris Carter, accidentally fell from his cabin balcony and landed on an open deck area three decks below.

Tragically, the guest died on Tuesday morning.

According to witnesses who were on the balcony with him at the time, the guest was sitting on the balcony railing and accidentally fell.

Carnival's Care Team is providing assistance and support to the guest's traveling companions and family back home.

The cruise departed from Galveston, Texas, on Sunday.

At the time of the accident, the ship was in the Gulf of Mexico en route to its first port of call at Mahogany Bay, Isla Roatan.
