Refinery flares after power goes out

PASADENA, Texas – Flares were seen coming from a refinery Tuesday after it had a power outage.

Officials at Pasadena Refinery Systems, 111 Red Bluff Road, said they lost power about 2:45 p.m.

Officials said the flaring was occurring because of the outage and because they were trying to safely shut down the plant.

Plant officials said the issue was not affecting the community.
