HOUSTON – An expectant father was killed in a shooting inside a southwest Houston restaurant.
Houston police said Roy Valdez, 20, was having beers at Taqueria Cancun on Gessner near the Southwest Freeway about 1 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators said Valdez was there with four men when he was shot multiple times.
Valdez was rushed to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, where he died.
Detectives said they have had trouble piecing together what happened because the four men Valdez was with fled left the scene after the shooting.
Valdez's relatives said his girlfriend will give birth to his only child, a boy, in July. He had recently moved out of his family's apartment to start his new life with his girlfriend.
Relatives said they do not have any idea who would have wanted to kill Valdez.
