1 shot, killed at Houston restaurant

Police search for leads in shooting

HOUSTON – Police are searching for leads after a man was shot and killed at a southwest Houston restaurant.

Houston Police said several men walked into the Taqueria Cancun on Gessner near the Southwest Freeway in southwest Houston about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators said the men sat in a booth towards the back of the restaurant, ordered beers, and then someone in the group pulled out a gun and started shooting.

"All we have so far is he came into the restaurant with other Hispanic males.  They were here a few minutes and the shooting started and numerous people ran out of the restaurant," said Houston Police Sgt. C.D. Howard said.

Investigators said the victim was shot repeatedly, including in the head.  He died at the hospital.

Police said all of the witnesses ran away after the shots were fired.

The victim's name has not been released.
