Naked unicyclist puts Kemah in national spotlight

KEMAH, Texas – A case of a naked man on a unicycle has put Kemah in the national spotlight.

Joseph Farley, 45, was arrested on Wednesday on a charge of indecent exposure after he was seen nude on the Kemah bridge about 1:30 p.m.

Kemah police said Farley told him he went for the ride, wearing only his pride, because he liked how it felt. He was not intoxicated or impaired, investigators said.

KPRC Local 2 aired the story Wednesday at 10 p.m., and police said they've gotten calls from the national media on Thursday morning.

"CNN, Smoking Gun, Court TV," Police Chief Greg Rikard said.

Rikard said he hopes someone else doesn't decide they like how it feels to be nude in public.

"This is a first, and hopefully the last," he said.

Investigators said Farley has been seen riding his unicycle on the bridge for the past several weeks, but, until Wednesday, he was always wearing his clothes.

Farley has been transferred from Kemah's jail to the county jail.
