Teens accused of killing father appear in court

HOUSTON – Four teenagers accused of shooting and killing a man in front of his family were arrested and charged with capital murder. Two appeared in court early Wednesday.

The four suspects, 15 and 17 years old, are accused of shooting and stabbing Victor Quevedo, 41.

Investigators said the father and his family had returned home Saturday at 11:45 p.m. when they were ambushed.

On Wednesday morning, Jose Armando Pineda, 17, and Christian Alexander Lopez, 17, went before a judge in Harris County.

Authorities said Pineda, Lopez and two others followed the family home at the Miramar Apartments in the 13100 block of Bissonnet.

"Pineda drove a tan Honda with other defendants and followed the victim, his wife and his 13-year-old daughter as they drove to the complex and parked," said a judge overseeing the case.

The crime occurred in the parking lot of the complex.

The suspects ran off with a couple of cellphones and an empty purse, investigators said. Pineda and Lopez are being held without bond.

Quevedo's daughter said her father tried to protect the family but could not fight off the entire group of attackers

All of the supects are being held in jail without bond.

Detectives said they are trying to determine if the same group is responsible to another attack and robbery that happened nearby.
