The little girl's mother, Abigail Young, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for failing to protect her daughter.

Young could be up for parole soon since she has served a quarter of her sentence.

Emma's family was upset at the thought of parole.

"Just as we start to smile a little bit, just as we start to recall Emma without crying every single time that her name is mentioned, some event like this comes along where we have to relive and revisit all the gruesome details of the horror that she endured the last weeks of her life," said Laurie Thompson, Emma's grandma.

Young's live-in boyfriend, Lucas Coe, is in prison without parole for raping Emma.
