ALVIN, Texas – A man has been arrested in connection with a break-in at a restaurant in Brazoria County.

Alvin police said John Dwight Prescott, 41, burglarized Julia's Restaurant in the 400 block of East State Highway 6 about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Detectives said Prescott stole a cash register and damaged doors.

Prescott fled before officers arrived at the restaurant, investigators said.

Officers spotted the getaway car a short distance away and Prescott led them on a short chase, detectives said.

There was a brief struggle when Prescott was taken into custody, police said.

Prescott has been charged with burglary of a building and evading arrest. He was booked into the Brazoria County Jail.
