PEARLAND, Texas – A Pearland doctor had his license suspended as a disciplinary action from the Texas Medical Board.
Officials with the TMB said they decided to suspend Dr. Akili Graham's license after he failed to appear Tuesday at an informal settlement conference to talk about the allegations against him.

For the past several months, investigators with the Drug Enforcement Agency had their eyes on the doctor, officials said.
Investigators said they found that patients from several pain management clinics run by Graham were being treated and prescribed medications, including controlled substances such as Lorcet and SOMA, by unlicensed clinic employees. A disciplinary panel of the TMB alleged Graham was running a "pill mill."
Officials said the patients were not given appropriate supervision or consultation by Dr. Graham, and also didn't get patient evaluation and treatment plans.
Officials said back in 2011, the TMB put a temporary suspension on four certificates for pain management clinics held by Graham after they found the clinics were not operating lawfully.
Officials said this current suspension will remain in effect until further action by the Texas Medical Board.
