HOUSTON – A person was wounded in a shooting at a southwest Houston basketball court on Monday.
Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables said the shooting happened at Alief Amity Park on Alief Clodine Road near Dairy Ashford about 3 p.m.
At least a dozen teens were playing in the park when a silver Mazda pulled up, officials said.
The shooter, a juvenile, aimed at the group.
The victim was wounded in the buttocks and was rushed to a hospital in stable condition.
"Quite often in the afternoon kids from all the different schools come to this park," said J.J. Laine of the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office. "This is very unusual in this park."
Investigators said the shooting was not random.
"We feel very certain we have a pretty good idea who the suspect is," Laine said. "We're going to try and get his side of the story, see if we can make contact with him."
Detectives said they are searching for two suspects who left the scene in a silver Mazda with a dent on the left rear side.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
