FBI searches for 'bad wig' bandit

No description found

HOUSTON – A man wearing an "ill-fitting" toupee robbed a northwest Houston bank Thursday.

The FBI said the man pulled out a handgun at the Amegy Bank at 2105 Taylor Street at 1 p.m. Thursday and demanded money from a teller.

He put the cash into a black briefcase and left the bank on foot, officials said.

Witnesses described the robber as a white man in his mid-30s, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 8 inches tall, between 185 and 215 pounds with a husky build. He was wearing black-framed glasses, a long-sleeved dress shirt and gray slacks.

FBI officials said they believe it's the same man who wore a long-haired woman's wig to rob the Prosperity Bank at 4065 Bellaire Boulevard on Jan. 23.

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.
