Discovery Green gets ready for New Year's Eve

HOUSTON – Tens of thousands of Houstonians are expected to ring in 2012 at Discovery Green.

New Year's Eve Live will kick off at 7 p.m. Saturday.

An illuminated art car parade will light up Discovery Green at 8 p.m.

Over the years, Mark "Scrapdaddy" Bradford has sculpted a name for himself in Houston. He's unveiling his newest creation "Mr. Green" at the parade.

"There are so many great art car artists here in Houston," said Bradford. "It's so inspiring to see the hard work other artists do."

Crews have been busy, setting up the lights and the stage for three big performers, including Texas star Delbert McClinton.

The night will be topped off with an impressive 3D laser show and fireworks shooting from the top of the GRB.

"It's more than a light show," said Angie Bertinot, Downtown District's director of marketing. "It's amazing technology out there."
