Several injured in school bus accident

HOUSTON – Half a dozen students were injured after a school bus accident in southeast Houston Wednesday.

The Houston Fire Department said the private school bus was involved in a three-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of the South Loop near Scott Street at 8:40 a.m.

Houston police said two cars collided and then slammed into the side of the school bus. Investigators said one vehicle was changing lanes and did not see the other car.

Six students and one adult were loaded onto an ambulance and taken to Ben Taub Hospital. Their conditions and the extent of their injuries were not released.

The students were middle school and high school-aged students.

AFC Transportation operates the school bus. The names of the schools where the bus was headed were not released.
