Investigators said two masked men barged into the house and fought with Jorge Vargas, 33.

"They kept asking my dad, 'Where is the money?'" 11-year-old Jorge Jr. Vargas said. "Then they slapped him with the back of the gun."

The men shot Vargas twice, police said.

"Right after they shot my dad, they tried to shoot me point blank, but they missed," Jorge Jr. said.

Detectives said the men forced the 15-year-old girl, Miranda, and Jorge Jr. to sit on a couch and demanded cash from them. Jorge Jr. said one of the men told them to put their heads down or he would shoot them.

Miranda remembered that her grandmother had some money inside the house and went to get it. When she got back, the men shot her in the head in front of her brother, police said.

"Then they walked out the front door and my dad was still yelling," Jorge Jr. said. "They came back in and they shot my dad again and they left."

Vargas and his daughter died at the home.

Jorge Jr. ran to a fire station for help. He was not physically injured.

Investigators said two men, one short and the other tall, were seen leaving the home wearing ski masks. Jorge Jr. said at least one of the masks was green. Detailed descriptions of them have not been released.
