Students sneak Jello shots on bus

7 students suspended at least 2 days

CLEVELAND, Texas – A group of Liberty County middle school students were suspended after taking Jello shots on the way to school.

The seven students, all seventh graders, were seen on surveillance camera slurping down the shots on the way to Cleveland Middle School. The shots were a mix of Jello and vodka.

School administrators said it didn't take long before figuring out what happened.

"A girl walked into the school like falling and stuff. She was falling down cause she was drunk," said Destiny Grimes, another student.

That student was taken to a local hospital and later released. The other students, including Vivian Coker's daughter, were taken out of class to sober up.

"I just can't believe that she done it. I mean she's 13," said Coker.

Coker said it was the first time her daughter had alcohol, and plans on making it her last.

"I grounded her until next year, until January. She can't go no where, she can't have the phone, can't have her BFF, can't play on the trampoline, or nothing," said Coker. "She's got to stay in the house."

All seven students were suspended for at least two days, and each will spend at least a month in alternative school.

Some parents believe the students' parents are also at fault.

"They should have known the alcohol was missing. That kid could have got killed. They should have known better than to have it around their kids," said parent Ethel Modisette.
