Trees and fences on and near Leafy Aspen Court in the Kingwood area were knocked down when the tornado struck about 2 p.m. Shingles were ripped off of some roofs.

"We were just admiring the rain we were getting and opened the door and all of a sudden we realized it was really getting fierce," one resident said. "We couldn't shut the door. A breeze started coming in, blowing things off the walls. It was all of a sudden, but it was over in about 30 seconds."

"We have quite a bit of roof damage. Trying to fix the leak," homeowner Dale Introligator said.

The National Weather Service said it was not going to send a crew out to survey the damage because it was certain that a tornado was to blame.

"The reason they already determined it was a tornado really was by media photographs, which came from a lot of viewers," KPRC Local 2 chief meteorologist Frank Billingsley said. "If you look at what we saw on Doppler ? the combination said this was probably a very weak tornado."

Several Humble Independent School District campuses lost power, including Willow Creek Elementary, Riverwood Middle School, Shadow Forest Elementary, Deerwood Elementary and the Instructional Support Center.

Students at Willow Creek Elementary said they took cover.

"All of the teachers said we had to go out into the hallway to be safe. They had us do the duck and cover," student Julianna Smith said.

Evening classes at San Jacinto College's south campus were canceled Tuesday because of a power outage. Classes were scheduled to resume Wednesday on their regular schedule.

No injuries were reported.
