With Oral Roberts now officially in the fold and future conference member, the Southland Conference league office and Commissioner Tom Burnett will turn its focus on HBU. A campus site visit and meetings are planned for early November 9. It will be only a one day visit with Burnett and campus administrators. At that time an offer will likely be extended.
The Southland Board believes our membership process is open, with the addition of Oral Roberts," Burnett told KPRC-TV in Houston. "As it relates to additional membership opportunities, we want to focus on instituations that play football or plan to play football. We'll look forward to our November 9th visit."
Burnett added, "By us making a visit, it signifies, we are serious about reviewing HBU as a possible member. If we didn't believe that we would not of planned a visit. We are excited to hear from Dr. Sloan and HBU AD Steve Moniaci."
HBU announced in May that they would be interested in possibly adding football.
