Conroe PD: Man Shot After Crashing Truck Into Store

CONROE, Texas – A thief who used a pickup truck to crash into a Conroe store was shot by police Monday, officials said.

A Conroe police officer spotted the truck right after it crashed into the front of the Shop-N-Go store in the 1100 block of South Frazier at 4:20 a.m.

"I think he tried to get the money -- the ATM," said Sam Kahn, a store employee. "I just see all the things messed up and police guys here."

Police said Derousalle Mosley sped off when the officer arrived, and he was chased down Velma Street, which is a dead-end, and Mosley crashed into a tree.

Officials said Mosley got out of the truck and started to charge the officer.

"The suspect then exits the vehicle and turns towards the officer in an aggressive manor. In fear for his safety at that point, fired one shot and struck the suspect in the leg," said Joe Smart with the Conroe Police Department.

Mosley was treated at the Conroe Regional emergency room. He is expected to be OK.

Mosley faces charges including burglary and unauthorized use of a vehicle because the truck was stolen out of Houston, police said.

A store employee said it will be a few days before the store will be cleaned up and reopened.
