HOUSTON – A man was shot to death when someone broke into his northwest Harris County apartment Wednesday.
Deputies said a gunman broke down a second-floor apartment door at the Autumn Lakes Apartments on Hollow Tree Lane near Westfield Place at 1:30 a.m. and opened fire.

The man died in the apartment from multiple gunshot wounds.
The motive for the shooting is unclear.
"We really don't know what the motive is. It may have been robbery or it may have just been someone who had a problem with this guy," said Sgt. Robert Spurgeon with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators said the victim was 57 years old. His name was not released. He was the only one in the apartment.
The gunman took off.
Officials said they hope surveillance cameras at the complex will help them track down the killer.
Residents said the killing made them worry about their safety.
"That's too close," Alexquisha Fields said. "I'm going to be really worried."
