Baytown Settles Red-Light Camera Lawsuit

BAYTOWN, Texas – The city of Baytown has reached a settlement with a red-light camera company after the city turned them off.

The city approved a $1 million settlement Thursday with American Traffic Solutions.

Baytown turned off the cameras after voters rejected them in November.

American Traffic Solutions is the same company the city of Houston is battling.

Houston turned off the red-light cameras in the city Wednesday. The city also repealed the ordinance allowing them.

The city of Houston's contract with ATS runs through 2013. The company said it wants up to $25 million in damages from the city for canceling the contract.
