Germy sneezes can travel great distances, scientists say

MIT scientists find surprising distances in sneeze study

HOUSTON – Kids are back in school and they are more likely to come in contact with germs, especially if kids are sneezing.

Scientists at MIT said they have found that the largest droplets typically settle within 3 to 6 feet from the sneezer, but smaller ones may linger in the air for several minutes and travel up to 26 feet.

Doctors said if your child has the sniffles, remind them to sneeze into their arm or a tissue and to frequently wash their hands.
