Discovery Green Ice Rink (Jamaal Ellis, Discovery Green)

Gliding on the ice at Discovery Green, or watching others do so, is a Houston holiday tradition.

The famed ice skating rink in downtown Houston will open on Nov. 10, with an evening of winter revelry dubbed Frostival.

At the festival, attendees can twirl around the rink, make snow angels, snap pictures with Pancho Claus and Black Santa, and more.

The fun begins at 5 p.m., with free ice skating for the first 50 people.

Skate tickets are $17 and include skate rentals. Sales support Discovery Green Conservancy, the nonprofit that maintains the park and provides free cultural programming.

Purchase tickets online at discoverygreen.com/ice.

The ice rink will operate daily through Jan. 28.
