HOUSTON – Singer Willie Nelson on Thursday was yet again the target of internet rumors saying he had died.

The latest iteration of the hoax seems to have stemmed from a tweet by WLS-AM in Chicago, saying that ā€œmultiple people in the country music industryā€ said Nelson, 84, had passed.

NBC News reported that it had confirmed through Nelson’s management company that the singer is indeed alive.

The radio station later tweeted that it too had confirmed Nelson was alive.

Nelson was born in Abbott, Texas, on April 29, 1933. He’s been active in the music scene since 1956.

This year he released a song titled ā€œStill Not Deadā€ from his album ā€œGod’s Problem Child.ā€
