Houston Humane Society offers free pet adoptions for Houston's heroes

HOUSTON – The Houston Humane Society is offering free pet adoptions to military personnel and first responders through July 5.

The society said all active and former military personnel, police, firefighters, nurses and paramedics can adopt a cat or dog for free.

Individuals must have an approved adoption application and show proof of military service or job identification cards.

All adoptions at the Houston Humane Society include spay/neuter surgery, microchip, routine vaccinations, a general health exam, a rabies vaccine, deworming, a heartworm test for dogs over 6 months and a feline leukemia test for cats and an adoption kit.
