The Executive Producer is the presentation leader responsible for a new 10PM accountability news program focused on investigative reporting, community issues, and public/government systems. The position requires expertise in show production, creative storytelling and showcasing, and the ability to translate investigative content into engaging television that respects viewers’ time and intelligence
RESPONSIBILITIES
Show Production & Structure
- Determine rundown order, pacing, and flow to maximize audience engagement while honoring accountability journalism principles
- Create a focused 10PM experience that differentiates from traditional news formats
- Collaborate with Executive Reporter and MCC on show development, content, and digital strategies
- Lead a team of segment producers to execute core content elements including investigative segments, accountability pieces, explainers, and community solutions reporting
- Balance investigation with solutions-oriented content in show structure
- Design show elements that reflect an approachable yet serious tone: direct, constructive, and audience-first
- Build program elements that avoid sensationalism while maintaining urgency and relevance
Production Elements & Innovation
- Oversee graphics, music, transitions, and technical execution that support the program’s distinct voice
- Guide creative storytelling techniques while maintaining journalistic standards
- Develop and refine segment formats that engage viewers and build program identity
- Collaborate on viewer engagement elements and community interaction opportunities
- Ensure production quality across linear, digital, and streaming platforms
- Make real-time in-show adjustments as news develops
Producer Development & Team Management
- Coach show producers on timing, storytelling, and production techniques specific to accountability journalism
- Develop producer expertise in investigative content presentation
- Train team on maintaining editorial standards while creating compelling television
- Foster understanding of tone and approach that builds credibility and trust
- Build producer skills in balancing serious accountability work with accessible presentation
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Minimum 8-10 years of television news production experience
- Minimum 5 years of senior or executive producer experience
- Proven track record of creating differentiated, branded news programming
- Experience producing or showcasing investigative or special projects content
- Previous leadership or team management experience
- Experience with new program launches or format development a plus
Skills
- Expert-level show structure and pacing abilities
- Strong editorial judgment balanced with production expertise
- Creative storytelling vision while maintaining journalistic integrity
