Heavy rainfall ongoing north of I-10. Here's what you need to know about our flood risk ~Caroline
A flood watch is in place through 1PM on Friday. Please stay weather aware. Our ground is saturated so rainfall is slow to drain. This is leading to street flooding. Excessive runoff will bring additional rises in rivers, creeks and streams.
We have been tracking extremely heavy rainfall north of I-10 this morning. Some areas around Lake Livingston have seen over 10" of rainfall overnight. This is causing major flooding concerns as this same area saw nearly a foot of rainfall earlier this week.
We will continue to track the showers and storms through the morning. Most of the activity will stay north of I-10.
We are expecting a lull in the rainfall this afternoon, but we will not be in the clear yet. Periods of heavy rainfall will be possible through early Saturday morning.
Starting Sunday we dry out and heat up with temperatures in the 90s next week.
Stay safe and remember to never drive into a flooded roadway!
