TRINITY COUNTY, Texas – After a tornado produced damaged and left two people injured in Trinity County Sunday night, County Judge Danny Martin has signed a disaster declaration for the county.

The disaster declaration allows for local resources to be freed up in order to respond to the county’s needs more quickly.
The declaration says the county suffered widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from tornadoes and continuous rains and flooding of county roads and damage to infrastructure.
Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace posted the disaster declaration on Facebook Tuesday.
Sunday’s storms left James “Jimmy” and Adela Waller injured after their trailer was destroyed by an EF1 tornado with winds estimated at 100 mph.
The Conroe Police Lieutenant and his wife were at their Trinity County property when the tornado came through, flattening their trailer and flipping their car. Jimmy was trapped underneath the trailer before being rescued by his neighbor, Brant Pee. His wife Adela was thrown by the storm into a pasture.
Jimmy was seriously hurt by the storm and according to the Conroe Police Department, his recovery will be lengthy and require multiple surgeries. Adela was also injured, but she received treatment and is by her husband’s side, according to the department.
The Wallers bought the trailer in Trinity County about a year ago, according to Brant Pee, the neighbor who found and saved Jimmy. He said they were planning to fix things up and spend more time there.
