Severe weather expected Valentine's Day

Strong storms will move into the Houston area Tuesday from 9am to 3pm. Primary threats are strong winds, hail, heavy rain and lightning.

The city of Houston Office of Emergency Management will activate the city's Emergency Operations Center to Level 3 at 8 a.m. when severe weather will impact the city.

Houston is under a tornado watch until 1 p.m. according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rain and street flooding is also a possibility.

The storms will clear by late afternoon, so evening Valentine's plans are safe.

Cooler temperatures will enter the forecast on Wednesday morning, with temperatures in the 40s. Highs will be in the 60s.

After Tuesday's rain, the possibility of rain does not return to the forecast until Sunday.
