HOUSTON - World #1 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland has now officially committed to play in the Shell Houston Open and his star power will also result in extra funds for one of the event's longtime benefiting charities.
"A committment from the #1 player in the world, especially one who is going to help us rais money for a tournament charity, is very special for our event," said Steve Timms, SHO Tournament Director and President/CEO of Houston Golf Association.
McIlroy is the third player currently in the Top 10 of the World Golf Rankings committed to tee it up the week of March 25-31 at Redstone Golf Club.
This will mark the 3rd appearance at the SHO for McIlroy.
