Police search for shooter after woman killed at Briarforest apartment complex

HOUSTON – A woman was found shot to death Monday night outside an apartment complex in Briarforest, according to police.

The shooting was reported about 11:10 p.m. at 680 W. Sam Houston Parkway South at the Camden Holly Springs apartments.

According to Houston police, the passersby who reported the incident found the woman’s body lying on the ground next to a car in the parking lot. They tried to help her, but she died at the scene.

The woman, who was in her early 20s, had been shot in her left shoulder, police said.

"It appears she was on her way to her vehicle,” said an investigator at the scene. “She had her apartment keys with her, but whether or not she had her cellphone on her, whether or not she had her purse on her, whether or not she had any of that stuff, we don't know at this point and time."

Police said there were no witnesses, but they believe the shooter drove away in a dark-colored, four-door sedan.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
