Woman set boyfriend's apartment on fire, officials say

RICHMOND, Texas – A woman is accused of setting multiple fires because she was upset with her boyfriend, according to the Fort Bend County Fire Marshal's Office.

Sierra Davis is charged with arson. The fire marshal said Davis confessed to setting a fire on Monday and another fire on Tuesday. Both fires happened at the same apartment at the Town & Country complex in the 2000 block of Thompson Road.

Authorities said her boyfriend wanted to kick her out of the apartment after she confronted him about an ex-girlfriend.

Davis allegedly tried to set her boyfriend's car on fire Monday, but the boyfriend was able to extinguish it.

She set his car on fire again on Tuesday, according to police.

"I heard the sirens and I woke up and I opened my front door and they were like 'get out, get out, run,' so I grabbed my kids and we took off," said Sherri Bass, a resident at the apartment complex.

The boyfriend suffered minor burns, but is expected to be OK.

"She was able to reach a blanket and lit it on fire," said Lowell Neinast, a spokesman for the Richmond Police Department. "It pretty much gutted the entire apartment. he was at home"

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one unit. Both residents, firefighters and officers are thankful it didn't spread to other units.

"It's crazy because why would you try to put everyone else in danger?," Bass said.

Davis, 21, is out on $25,000 bond.
