Woman's boyfriend in custody as person of interest

The man said he walked out of the house then heard a gunshot. When he returned to the house, he found his girlfriend, 39-year-old Gloria Estrada, shot dead with a gunshot wound in her head.

Estrada's boyfriend claimed she had shot herself, police said.

The homicide division was called and detectives say there were signs of a struggle inside the house.

“We found a few fire cartridge casings in the house. We have broken beer bottles, so there are signs of a struggle,” said Detective Mike Perez.

Perez said they are now investigating the death not as a suicide, but possibly a murder.

The medical examiner will determine if the woman has any other gunshot wounds.

The boyfriend had narcotics in his possession when police searched him.

The woman's boyfriend is in custody as a person of interest and is being charged for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
