League City woman, children left devastated after husband killed

LEAGUE CITY, Texas – Amanda Harris said she and her husband Wayne were married nearly five years ago, and ever since then they had the perfect love story.

“He was my rock. He picked up the pieces where I left off and I did the same for him,” Harris said.

But for Harris, that fairy tale recently turned into a real life nightmare when she recently returned to their League City home with her 11-year-old daughter after celebrating her birthday.

“He was here when I drove up, standing at my doorstep,” Harris said.

The “he” she is talking about is her ex-husband, 41-year-old Sayantan Ghose.

The two divorced nearly nine years ago, though Harris said he refused to stay out of the picture and claims he’d been stalking her.

Harris says what happened next will haunt her forever.

“I was shot in my left arm and in my left leg,” Harris said.

Her husband Wayne was shot multiple times and died.

Ghose fled the scene and was later arrested in New Mexico.

Harris said she is a broken woman.

“He was an incredible person. It’s just destroyed us my girls and I are just destroyed,” Harris said.

Now a single parent, Harris is having to provide for her 11-year-old and 3-year-old daughter -- who was born without an esophagus and has special needs -- with no job and no source of income.

“We're faced with losing our home and everything else,” Harris said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to provide assistance to the family.
