If you've got little ones, you've probably got a cabinet in your kitchen filled with plastic cups, lids, straws and little inserts... all of it to make sure apple juice only goes in your child's mouth, and not on your carpet. But most cups inevitably dribble and leak. That means more cleaning for you. Consumer expert Amy Davis is testing a cup that claims you can replace all of those cups with just one.
It's called the Wow Cup. It has no sippy spout and no handles. There just two pieces that can go in the dishwasher. We took it to a rough and tumble 14-month-old to try it out.
14-month-old Dash always has a sippy cup or two at his disposal; but lately his mom, Rebecca, prefers the Wow Cup.
"Oh my gosh. This is genius!" Rebecca said.
Like most toddlers, Dash drops his cup frequently, but drop after drop, the Wow Cup never let a dribble out. Even when Rebecca intentionally flips the Wow Cup upside down, nothing spilled out.
"We're trying to transition from the bottle to the cup," she explained.
The cup has no spout or nipple, so it's more like a real cup. The liquid comes out from anywhere along the side, but only when you put your lips to it.
The Wow Cup commercial explains it this way:
"The secret? Auto sealing technology that allows liquid to flow only when you drink. Once you stop, it forms a water tight seal."
"I was a little worried that he wasn't going to be able to figure it out," Rebecca said. "But I gave him the cup and he definitely had it figured out faster than mommy did. I would definitely recommend this to other moms."
