FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A woman is accused of shooting her husband to death Thursday during a dispute in Fort Bend County, deputies said.
Sheriff's officials said a woman called 911 around 11:30 p.m. Friday from a home in the 2400 block of Brandyshire Drive in the Firethorne subdivision, near Fulshear.
"A female caller stated that she had shot her husband and requested police. Sheriff's deputies arrived and spoke to the woman finding her husband deceased inside with a gunshot wound to the chest," said sheriff Troy Nehls.
Deputies found 32-year-old Jeffrey Thaler lying on the living room floor with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Investigators said they found a small pistol in the home.
According to deputies, the couple got into an argument and a struggle ensued. That's when deputies said she shot her husband.
The couple does not have children, deputies said, and no one else was in the home at the time of the shooting.
The woman's attorney, Todd Ward, with DeGuerin, Dickson, and Ward, told KPRC 2 that the woman shot her husband in self-defense. He said there is a history of domestic violence between the couple.
"She acted in self-defense and we're still getting the rest of the details about what happened. She did act in self-defense," Ward said.
KPRC 2 News is not identifying the woman because of claims that she is a victim of domestic violence.
No charges have been filed. The case will be referred to a grand jury.
