Where is U.S. Rep. Steve Stockman?

HOUSTON – Republican Rep. Steve Stockman, representing the 36th District hasn't been seen since Jan. 14 and hasn't cast a vote since Jan. 9.

Someone in his Washington D.C office answered the phone Friday but not our questions about where the congressman might be.

"I can't disclose that information," an unidentified staffer said over the phone Friday.  "But I can assure you he is serving his district."

When asked why his staff couldn't disclose his whereabouts, the staffer responded, "Because I'm not allowed to."

Stockman's office also said they could offer no indication about when the congressman might re-emerge.

Local 2 went to Stockman's home Friday.  No one answered the door.  Neighbors said they haven't seen him recently either.
"I saw him about two, three weeks ago maybe," neighbor Leosha Fields said.

Stockman's disappearance is especially unusual because he's in the middle of a campaign.  In December, Stockman announced his bid to unseat incumbent Sen. John Cornyn in the U.S. Senate. The Republican primary is scheduled for March.

According to the House of Representatives clerk's office, Stockman last voted in Washington on Jan. 9. He's since missed at least a dozen congressional votes.

To be fair, he's not the only member of congress not to vote during that time period.

On Thursday night, someone controlling his Twitter account posted a message saying, "Where am I? Find out Monday..."

But some voters on Twitter don't seem amused.  One person tweeted, "This is a Senate primary, not a cat and mouse game."
