HOUSTON – Happy birthday, Whataburger! It was 66 years ago that Whataburger opened its first restaurant.
Harmon Dobson, the man behind the burger that we all know and love, opened the first-ever Whataburger in Corpus Christi on Aug. 8, 1950.

There are now more than 700 restaurants that span in every state from Arizona to Florida.

The fast-food restaurant is part of Texas history. When people move to or visit Texas, natives always recommend going to Whataburger. It's a Texas tradition.
Some people even have Whataburger-themed birthday parties.
