Alaniz was arrested in February 2006 in San Antonio for aggravated assault. However, he made bail and fled. The victim later died from his injuries, and Alaniz was charged with murder in August 2006. Alaniz's arrest warrant for a sexual assault of a child is from a 2006 incident in Zavala County.

Officials say Alaniz has ties to several Texas towns which include La Pryor, George West and Beaumont and to Veracruz, Mexico.

Alaniz is described as 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds with tattoos on his left hand, legs, right arm and shoulder. Authorities say that his appearance could have changed drastically as the last recorded photo of Alaniz is from 2006.
