Family speaks out after police shooting in Texas City

TEXAS CITY, Texas – The family of a man shot and killed by Texas City police is still looking for answers.

They're rallying Sunday, demanding to see surveillance footage from that shooting, and a grand jury probe.

Texas City has released the name of the policeman involved, as Officer Christopher Ham. Ham has been with the department for four years.

Carlton Wayne Smith, 20, was shot five times after police say he was seen firing wildly into a crowd of people outside H.T.'s Lounge early Friday morning.

Now, Smith's family is working with community activist Quannel X. They are asking the Department of Justice to come in and begin an independent investigation. They also want the Galveston County district attorney to appoint a special prosecutor to present the case to a grand jury.

Quannel X scheduled a press conference for Sunday evening.
