Teen shoots alleged attackers outside home in Galleria area

HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a teen shot a person outside a home in the Galleria area.

According to Houston police, an 18-year-old was standing on the front lawn of the home in the 4700 block of Waring when three men attacked him and punched him in the face. During the attack, the teen pulled out a gun and fired.

"At some point during the altercation there was an exchange of gunfire. The three suspects fled. One of the suspects was shot. About an hour later he showed up at LBJ Hospital," Lt. Larry Crowson said.

Investigators are questioning the person who was shot as well as the two others who were with him to determine a motive for the shooting. All the boys were 18 years old or younger, police said.

Police said Xanax was recovered at the scene but have not said if a drug deal was the motive or to whom the drugs belong.

Police also found two guns, one of which was used in the shooting. Police said neither gun belongs to the shooter.

The 18-year-old who fired the gun was not arrested.
