Teen pleads guilty in crash that killed 2 Katy teens

Sentenced to 180 days in jail, 10 years probation

KATY, Texas – A teen who was arrested in connection with a crash that killed two people in Katy two years ago pleaded guilty to the charges Thursday.

Aaron Jamison, 18, was charged with two counts of manslaughter after the December 2014 crash that killed 17-year-old Trent Weber and 16-year-old Terra Kubala.

Fort Bend County deputies said that Jamison was driving the truck that had several students in the bed. When the truck crashed, several of them were thrown from the truck.

During a hearing Thursday, a judge sentenced Jamison to serve 180 days in prison. The first half of the sentence will begin Aug. 8. He’ll serve the second half of his sentence next June. The judge said this will allow Jamison to attend most of his first year at Houston Community College.

Jamsion was also sentenced to 10 years of probation, a $1,000 fine and 300 hours of community service. He was also ordered to undergo drug and alcohol counseling.

The judge said that if Jamison violates his probation, he could serve up to 20 years in prison.  Both of the victims’ mothers took the stand Thursday morning, sobbing, as they read victim impact statements to the court.  The mother of Trent Weber told the court how much the death of her son has impacted her family, especially Trent’s siblings.  She also mentioned how Jamison never once apologized or showed any remorse for what happened.  She said she is waiting for the day when he shows up at her family’s door to apologize.  Jamison and his attorneys declined to comment after Thursday's hearing.
