HOUSTON – A teacher at a Spring Branch Independent School District middle school was fired over an inappropriate relationship with one of her students, according to Duncan F. Klussmann, the Superintendent of Schools.
Kathryn "Camille" Murray, an eighth-grade teacher at Memorial Middle School, was fired Wednesday, according to a statement from Klussmann.
Klussmann said Murray was removed from the classroom after allegations were reported on February 13th.
Details of the allegations were not released.
Murray worked at Memorial Middle School for three years, according to Klussmann.
"The safety of every SBISD student is our very highest priority. We are deeply shocked and outraged by this alleged conduct. We will never tolerate any teacher or other employee who takes advantage of and harms a student. This allegation, if true, represents a complete breach of the trust that our children and our community place in our educators every day. We are saddened by these allegations, and we are very concerned about the well-being of the student and his family," read the statement.
One parent said everyone liked the teacher.
Children's Protective Services, Spring Branch ISD police, and the State Board for Educator Certification are also investigating.
Murray has not been charged.
Counselors will be on hand at the school for the next few days.
