Speeding, erratic driver dies in rollover crash, police say

HOUSTON – One man was killed and another injured in a crash in southwest Houston.

Investigators are trying to figure out what led to a deadly crash Monday night.

Witnesses said a driver was speeding through several red lights on Almeda Road just before midnight. Police said the erratic driver crashed his silver sedan into a truck that had the green light at West Fuqua before rolling into a ditch.

Witnesses tried to help both drivers, officers said. The driver of the sedan died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital. He's expected to survive.

Houston police are investigating if alcohol was a factor.
