Robber distracted by car horn gets away with nothing

HOUSTON – Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department have released a surveillance image of an armed robbery at a convenience store.

The crime was reported on May 23 in the 700 block of North Loop West service road.

Investigators said the robber pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded that the employee open the register. The worker was not able to open the locked register, so the robber ordered the clerk to give him cigarettes.

The clerk told investigators that the robber became distracted when someone honked a horn outside the store, and the clerk ran out of the store.

The robber then ran out of the store without any money or items.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and charges in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS (8477).
