Rodeo Houston Super Series II champions gear up for semifinals

HOUSTON – Following the Rodeo Houston Super Series II, 32 cowboys and cowgirls are advancing to the semifinals March 22-23.

Fred Whitfield, who took home $4,750 when he won the title of 2017 Super Series champion in tie-down roping, said he decided to change horses for the series.

"I rode this one horse this morning and it felt good," he said. "I thought I'd try her out, and it worked for the best."

Also advancing to the semifinal round areTyson Durfey, Chase Williams and Ace Slone.

Bill Tutor snagged the 2017 Super Series II bareback riding champion title and a $6,000 prize, giving his horse due credit.

"I couldn't have drawn any better," Tutor said. "When you match the horse that you're equivalent to or better, that's the best feeling, and that's why you ride."

Also advancing to the semifinal round are Shane O'Connell, Kyle Brennecke and Evan Jayne.

 

Joel Bach and Dalton Pearce won the Super Series II team roping championship title, walking away with $10,000.
