Missing teen with autism found safe, officials say

CYPRESS, Texas – An autistic teenager who has been missing for three days was found Sunday afternoon, Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District officials confirmed.

Nahum Legaspi, 19, hadn't been seen since Wednesday near Cypress Ranch High School at 10700 Fry Road in Cypress, officials said.

Volunteers said Legaspi was found at a Houston church at FM 529 and Eldridge Road.

Cypress- Fairbanks ISD officials released the following statement:

“We would like to thank CFISD police, local law enforcement, Texas Equusearch and the entire community for the outpouring of support during this multi-agency search.

“There is not enough praise for those who worked around the clock over the past several days; from the first responders to the community members who kept a keen eye out to our local restaurants who donated food.

“We appreciate all those who worked to ensure Nahum’s safe return. We ask that you respect the privacy of the family, giving them the space they need during this time.”

Officials said Legaspi left after getting in trouble at school. His father told KPRC2 that his son is very religious so he must have walked to their church since they go there every Sunday.

The teen's high school is 20 miles away from the church.
