Officers shoot man to death in motel parking lot, police say

WEBSTER, Texas – Officers working to serve a warrant at a Webster motel shot a man to death on Tuesday night, police said.

Officers said they went to the 800 block of West Bay Area Boulevard to serve a warrant to a known violent offender around 7 p.m.

When officers approached the man, identified as 37-year-old Robert Daffern, he was in the front seat of a vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

Officer gave numerous commands for Daffern to show his hands before he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at officers, according to a statement from police.

Two officers shot and killed Daffern, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and the Webster Police Department and the Harris County District Attorney's Office are working to gather information.
